When it all began, Tramelan was the ideal place for the development of this precise technique, originally the handiwork of patient craftsmen intent in creating and perfecting these small yet immensely valuable objects during the long snowy winters. In the fine season they were then transported and sold to the valleys below and later on to the faraway markets gaining recognition all over the world.
