Many and varied are the crafts called upon in watch-making, where sophisticated tools are as important as the talented touch of man's hand, where technical crafts knowledge and cutting-edge instruments fuse together with artistic skills that require brilliant dexterity.

In the Bernese Jura, lying in the valley carved out by the waters of the Tram and well off the beaten track, Tramelan has been for centuries an historic centre of this ancient, silent art becoming one of the most important Swiss watch production districts. When it all began, Tramelan was the ideal place for the development of this precise technique, originally the handiwork of patient craftsmen intent in creating and perfecting these small yet immensely valuable objects during the long snowy winters. In the fine season they were then transported and sold to the valleys below and later on to the faraway markets gaining recognition all over the world. The Armand Nicolet watches inherited their DNA from the company's long and rich history of fine watch-making in this district.
